How Paycheck Fairness Act Would Bolster US Equal Pay Law

By Jennifer Queliz (May 6, 2019, 3:30 PM EDT) -- The Paycheck Fairness Act, or PFA, introduced as H.R.7[1] and S.270[2], passed the U.S. House of Representatives on March 27, 2019, and is currently sitting on the Senate calendar.[3] If enacted, the bill would provide amendments to the Equal Pay Act of 1963,[4] or EPA, and the Fair Labor Standards Act[5] to strengthen those laws' protections against pay disparity on the basis of sex. But while Democrats may hope that the bill will gain momentum in the wake of the #MeToo movement and the Hollywood pay discussion in the last year, it is unlikely to pass the Republican Senate anytime soon....
