AspenTech Wins Jury Verdict In IP Dispute Over Ex-Worker

By Maria Chutchian (May 21, 2012, 4:12 PM EDT) -- A federal jury on Friday returned a verdict against M3 Technology Inc. in its intellectual property dispute with Aspen Technology Inc. stemming from the hire of a former AspenTech employee to work on oil refinery engineering projects similar to those he oversaw at his previous company.

The Texas jury ruled M3 had misappropriated trade secrets, infringed refinery planning and scheduling software copyrights and tortiously interfered with Aspen's noncompete agreement with former employee Tekin A. Kunt, Aspen said in a statement.
