NJ Court Won't Revive Cop's Whistleblower Suit

Law360, New York (July 26, 2013, 8:47 PM EDT) -- Complaints about transfers and promotions don't win protection under New Jersey's whistleblower law for a police officer who sued Edison Township's former mayor and public safety department over allegedly retaliatory assignments, the state Appellate Division ruled Friday.

Walter Keith Hahn failed to show that he protested conduct that he reasonably believed breached a law or specific public policy, which meant that he couldn't support a Conscientious Employee Protection Act claim, according to a three-judge panel, which affirmed the toss of his suit.
