Law360, Los Angeles (August 18, 2016, 7:31 PM EDT) -- A former investment banker for Jefferies Group LLC lodged a gender and pregnancy discrimination suit in New York federal court Wednesday, alleging that her supervisor suggested she take on a “less demanding” role in human resources after she told him she was pregnant.
Shabari Nayak, a former senior vice president who spent her entire 12-year career at Jefferies, claims the investment bank stiffed her on a 2015 bonus after she announced her pregnancy, despite bringing in $3.75 million in deal revenue last year. She claims Jefferies fosters a workplace environment in which female executives are valued lower than their male counterparts....
