By Aaron Warshaw and Nicole Welch (June 21, 2017, 6:22 PM EDT) -- Under local legislation set to be become effective on Nov. 26, 2017, retail and fast food establishments in New York City may soon face costly and confusing pay and scheduling requirements. On May 30, 2017, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio signed into law a legislative package consisting of five bills, collectively dubbed the "Fair Workweek" laws. The legislation amends the New York City Administrative Code to impose significant constraints on fast food and retail employers throughout New York City. The Fair Workweek laws aim to ensure predictable paychecks and work schedules for retail and fast food employees. The laws also include strict notice and record-keeping requirements, and create new private and local agency methods of enforcement....
