Dominion Energy Unit Sues DOE Over Spent Nuclear Fuel

Law360 (June 12, 2018, 6:18 PM EDT) -- A Dominion Energy Inc. subsidiary has sued the U.S. Department of Energy in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims for allegedly breaching for several years a contract to collect spent nuclear fuel and high-level waste at a power station.

Dominion Energy Kewaunee Inc.’s Thursday complaint alleges the federal government violated a standard 1983 contract with the then-owners of the Kewaunee Power Station in Carlton, Wisconsin, to remove spent nuclear fuel, which is largely composed of uranium and other highly radioactive substances.
