Odebrecht Alerts Peru To Issues Under Investment Treaty

Law360, New York (August 11, 2017, 1:34 PM EDT) -- Engineering conglomerate Odebrecht SA has recently alerted the Peruvian government about its intentions to resolve discrepancies under an investment treaty with the Andean nation, which is one of 12 countries in which U.S. prosecutors said the company bribed foreign officials.

Regarding the bribery case, prosecutors said Odebrecht and others paid nearly $788 million in bribes to foreign officials in connection with 100 projects in 12 countries: Angola, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Mozambique, Panama, Peru and Venezuela.
