Tusk Tells EU Lawmakers To Be Open To Long Brexit Delay

Law360, London (March 27, 2019, 10:01 AM GMT) -- European Union Council President Donald Tusk said Wednesday that the European Parliament should be open to a lengthy Brexit delay if the U.K. decides to rethink its strategy, noting that almost 6 million people have signed a British petition seeking to reverse the Article 50 departure process and remain in the EU.

Tusk told European lawmakers to be ready for Britain to take part in EU parliamentary elections in late May as part of a "long extension" to the Brexit process, pointing to growing opposition in the U.K. to the government's plans for exiting the bloc.
