TEXT ORDER: After having failed to answer Plaintiff's complaint, the Court sua sponte extended Defendants answer deadline to July 20, 2026. (See Text Order dated July 6, 2026.) That same day, Plaintiff 10 moved for entry of default. In light of the Court's extension, however, the entry of default would be inappropriate at this time. That's because, under Fed. R. Civ. P. 55(a), a party defaults when they fail "to plead or otherwise defend" the action. Defendant has eleven days to defend the action, so it is not yet in default. Accordingly, Plaintiff's 10 Motion for Entry of Default is DENIED with leave to renew. Entered by Magistrate Judge Ronald L. Hanna on July 9, 2026. (NL)
