Order Staying Case ~Util - Terminate Motions
Federal district courts possess “broad discretion in deciding how to best manage the cases before [us],” Chudasama v. Mazda Motor Corp., 123 F.3d 1353, 1366 (11th Cir. 1997), including the “discretion to stay proceedings as an incident to [our] power to control [our] own docket,” Clinton v. Jones, 520 U.S. 681, 683 (1997). And where, as here, “resolution of a preliminary motion may dispose of the entire action,” there is good cause to issue a stay. Nankivil v. Lockheed Martin Corp., 216 F.R.D. 689, 692 (M.D. Fla. 2003) (Morris, J.), aff’d, 87 F. App’x 713 (11th Cir. 2003). Accordingly, we STAY and CLOSE this case pending our resolution of the Defendant’s Motion to Dismiss [ECF No. 73]. Nothing in this Order alters our Order After Status Conference [ECF No. 82], or our ability to adjudicate the Plaintiff’s Motion for Sanctions [ECF No. 87] and Motion to Disqualify Counsel [ECF No. 79].
