Order on Motion for Extension of Time to Answer
TEXT ORDER: Defendant Medtronic 23 moves to stay its deadline to answer Plaintiff's complaint. Defendant explains that this action was originally filed in the Southern District of Illinois; that Defendant moved to transfer it to the District of Minnesota; and that the Southern District of Illinois, on its own motion, transferred the case here. In doing so, the Southern District explained that Medtronic's 5 motion to transfer the case to Minnesota would be "addressed by the receiving district court." Under Fed. R. Civ. P. 6(b)(1)(A), courts may, for good cause, extend time when a request is made before the original deadline expires. Based on the circumstances discussed above, the Court finds that Medtronic's request would serve the interests of judicial economy. Accordingly, Medtronic's 23 motion is GRANTED. Medtronic need not file an answer or other response to Plaintiff's complaint until thirty days following this Court's order on its 5 motion to transfer. Entered by Magistrate Judge Ronald L. Hanna on June 8, 2026. (NL)
