   3. Janien Valentine, Sabrina Valentine, and Nicholas Valentine's 22 Crossclaim, filed on February 11, 2026 is withdrawn and dismissed with prejudice;

   MINUTE ORDER IN CHAMBERS of the Honorable Judge Cristina D. Silva on 8/24/2026.

   "When disputed assets are deposited into a court's registry, the court holds them in trust... for the benefit of whomsoever in the end they should be found to belong." In re Lynch v. Arelma, Inc., 587 F.3d 922, 924 (9th Cir. 2009) (cleaned up). Thus, the court's jurisdiction over the funds continues until the court orders distribution of the funds. Here, interpleader funds were deposited into the court's registry. ECF Nos. 25, 26. Now, the defendants filed a stipulation that includes the provision that the "Reliastar Insurance proceeds at issue in this matter shall be released to and held in the Spencer Fane, LLP IOLTA pending resolution of the Nevada State court probate matter." ECF No. 32 at 2. Once the funds are released from the court's registry, the court relinquishes its authority to control and preserve the interpleader funds. So, if the court approves the parties' stipulation, no live controversy will remain, and the case must be dismissed. If this is not the defendants' intent, they must file a status report addressing the issue of jurisdiction by August 31, 2026. If a status report is not filed, the court will approve the stipulation and this action will be closed on that date.
