Order on Motion in Limine
ORDER denying 231 Motion in Limine. Deny without prejudice. Plaintiff seeks an order excluding a broad category of evidence of any asserted cause of damages that predates August 2016. (Doc. 231 at 7.) Plaintiff argues that "Crowe's proposed evidence concerning Global Hawk's regulation, history and condition between 2009 and early 2016 is not relevant to this case, and will confuse and prolong the trial." (Id. at 5.) A court should only exclude evidence on a motion in limine when there is clearly no basis to admit the evidence. See Donaldson v. Grous, 2025 WL 1373741 at *1 (D.Conn. May 12, 2025). The admissibility of evidence often is often heavily dependent on the specific fact that a party seeks to admit and the context in which its admission is sought. Id. While Plaintiff lists some general categories of evidence that Defendant might seek to admit, such as "financial matters during 2015" or "changes in Global Hawk's management in 2012," these are imprecise descriptions and cover a broad range of facts, some or all of which may be relevant to a number of different issues. Here, the court cannot determine the admissibility of the broad category of evidence which Plaintiff seeks to exclude. Accordingly, the motion in limine is DENIED without prejudice. Plaintiff can file a more specific motion in limine outlining the facts she seeks to exclude or raise a specific objection during trial. Signed by District Judge Mary Kay Lanthier on 7/31/2026.
