MINUTE entry before the Honorable Heather K. McShain: The Court has reviewed the parties' joint status report 28 , which reports that the parties have exchanged and completed written discovery. The parties report that depositions of both plaintiff's insured and the government's employee have been completed. The parties do not intend to pursue expert discovery. Fact discovery closes on 06/01/2024 21 and, based on the joint status report, it appears that discovery has been completed. On settlement, the parties report that no substantive discussions have taken place. Plaintiff indicates an interest in settlement and the government indicates it has no authority to settle this matter. The parties state they will engage in settlement discussions when appropriate and that they do not anticipate the need for a formal settlement conference with the magistrate. The parties request that the Court set a deadline for a status on settlement in 60 days. A telephonic status hearing is set for 07/08/2024, to discuss settlement and, if appropriate, schedule a settlement conference with Magistrate Judge McShain. Counsel should complete prepared with availability of both attorneys and decisionmakers to attend a settlement conference in August, September, and October. Prior to the status hearing, counsel should review Magistrate Judge McShain's Standing Order for Settlement Conferences (available on the Court's website at www.ilnd.uscourts.gov by selecting the link for Magistrate Judge McShain and then the link for "Settlement Conferences"). To participate in the telephonic hearing, the dial-in number is 888-684-8852, followed by access code 8623687#. Persons granted remote access to proceedings are reminded of the general prohibition against photographing, recording, and rebroadcasting of court proceedings. Violation of these prohibitions may result in sanctions, including removal of court issued media credentials, restricted entry to future hearings, denial of entry to future hearings, or any other sanctions deemed necessary by the Court. Should there be mutual interest in scheduling a settlement conference with Magistrate McShain prior to 07/08/2024, the parties may contact chambers at any time (by email to Chambers_McShain@ilnd.uscourts.gov) and the Court will move up the date for the status hearing. Mailed notice. (pk, ) (Entered: 05/21/2024)
