MINUTE ORDER. With due consideration to the Court's docket of six criminal trials scheduled between October 2023 and February 2024, the parties are reminded that pursuant to 28 U.S.C. Section 636, a magistrate judge may conduct a jury trial in a civil action if all parties consent. If both parties wish to provide consent for the trial in this case to be conducted by a magistrate judge, the parties shall complete and sign the form titled "Notice, Consent, and Reference of a Civil Action to a Magistrate Judge" available on the district court's website and submit the form via mail or email to the Clerk's Office. In doing so, both parties must sign the same form. If one or both parties do not wish to provide consent, the parties are directed to file a joint status report with the Court by November 13, 2023 notifying the Court of this. The parties need not disclose the individual preferences of the parties but rather can simply notify the Court that there is not joint consent for referral to a magistrate judge at this time. The parties are further advised that they are free to withhold consent without adverse substantive consequences. SO ORDERED. Signed by Judge Richard J. Leon on 10/20/2023. (lcrjl1)
