Order on Motion to Amend/Correct
PAPERLESS ORDER RESERVING RULING ON MOTION AND REQUIRING A RESPONSE: Having reviewed the "Agreed" Motion to Amend or Correct Judgment to Cure Jurisdictional Defect ("Motion") 309 , I find that additional information is necessary before the Motion may be resolved. The Motion represents the Johnson Defendants' second attempt to cure a jurisdictional defect that prevented appellate review by the Eleventh Circuit. Given the significance of the issue presented, I expected any renewed motion to be carefully reviewed. Instead, the Motion again contains avoidable drafting deficiencies, including spacing irregularities and errant punctuation. Moreover, although the Motion is styled as "Agreed," it does not include the certificate of conferral required by Local Rule 7.1(a)(3) and the filing does not make clear whether the requested relief is agreed upon by all parties or just the Johnson Defendants. Accordingly, so that I may be fully advised, Plaintiff shall file a response to the Motion on or before Monday, July 20, 2026. Following receipt of Plaintiff's response, I will determine if the Motion may be resolved on the papers or whether a hearing is warranted. The parties are advised that, given the nature of the issue presented, the motion may be set for hearing. Signed by U.S. Magistrate Judge Shaniek Mills Maynard on 7/7/2026. (jrz)
