Order on Motion for Extension of Time
PAPERLESS ORDER granting in part 10 Defendant POD's Unopposed Motion for Extension of Time. Defendant seeks a 21-day extension of time to respond to the Complaint. The motion states the response "is now due." I caution Defendant to ensure that in the future, motions for extension of time be filed in advance of the deadline sought to be extended. In addition, motions to extend litigation deadlines must set forth good cause supported by specific facts. This motion states only that counsel was retained recently and is generally busy. On these sparse facts I do not have sufficient information to determine whether the good cause standard is met. I will grant the motion in part in the interest of expediency because the request is unopposed. However, counsel is advised that going forward, motions must be better supported or they will be summarily denied. The response to the Complaint is due August 6, 2026.
