Administrative Order
PAPERLESS ORDER. THIS CAUSE came before the Court upon the Parties' Joint Status Report. 12 . Therein, the Parties request that the Court stay this matter for an additional one hundred and twenty (120) days so Defendants can receive Plaintiff's response to a Request for Evidence, which is due September 8, 2026, and decide on Plaintiff's second I-485 application. Id. at 2. The Court notes that the Parties filed this Status Report six days after their Court-imposed deadline to do so. See (ECF No. 11). The Court is not satisfied with the Parties' lack of explanation for this "inadvertent delay," (ECF No. 12) at 1 n.1, and cautions the Parties to diligently meet future deadlines. Further, the Court fails to see why a stay of such a great length is necessary at this time when the response to the Request for Evidence is due on September 8, 2026. The length of a stay must not be indefinite or immoderate. See Ortega Trujillo v. Conover & Co. Commc'ns, 221 F.3d 1262, 1264 (11th Cir. 2000). Accordingly, UPON CONSIDERATION of the Joint Status Report, the pertinent portions of the record, and being otherwise fully advised in the premises, it is hereby ORDERED AND ADJUDGED that this case is hereby STAYED for an additional sixty (60) days. It is FURTHER ORDERED that the Parties shall file a status report proposing further proceedings and seeking such other relief, such as a motion to extend the stay or to dismiss any claims as moot, on or before October 12, 2026. Signed by Judge K. Michael Moore on 8/19/2026. (srn)
