Order
ORDER this matter is referred to the Honorable Magistrate Judge Maria S. Aguilera for the limited purpose of conducting a settlement conference. See LRCiv 83.10. The parties shall contact the Magistrate Judge's chambers to schedule settlement proceedings. Counsel shall file a Joint Status Report with this Court within three (3) days of the completion of settlement proceedings indicating the outcome of the Settlement Conference. All other deadlines remain in effect. Signed by District Judge Angela M Martinez on 7/6/2026. (VSB)
Order on Stipulation
ORDER - This case was filed on April 22, 2025. The current scheduling order requires dispositive motions be filed no later than January 29, 2027. The parties seek extensions of numerous case management deadlines, including an extension of the dispositive motion deadline to April 30, 2027. The court's general practice is to require dispositive motions no later than two years after a case is filed. Given the claims and defenses in this case, that is appropriate here. Therefore, the dispositive motion deadline is extended only to April 22, 2027. The court grants the other requested extensions, but these deadlines will not be extended again absent extraordinary circumstances. A need for counsel to "get up to speed," "other case demands," and settlement negotiations will not meet this standard. (Doc. 32 at 1-2.) IT IS ORDERED the Stipulation (Doc. 32 ) is GRANTED IN PART. The following deadlines apply: fact discovery shall be completed by March 12, 2027; expert disclosures by the party with the burden of proof shall be made no later than December 4, 2026; expert disclosures by the party without the burden of proof shall be made no later than January 15, 2027; rebuttal expert disclosures shall be made no later than February 12, 2027; expert depositions shall be completed no later than March 12, 2027; rule 35 exams must be noticed by February 26, 2027; dispositive motions shall be filed no later than April 22, 2027; and the parties shall meet in person and engage in good faith settlement talks no later than December 18, 2026. Ordered by Judge Krissa M Lanham on 7/6/2026. This is a TEXT ENTRY ONLY. There is no PDF document associated with this entry. (NSH)
