Compel
(IN CHAMBERS) Order GRANTING IN PART AND DENYING IN PART R. Lance Hill and Lady Amos Literary Works, Ltd.'s Motion to Compel 91 by Magistrate Judge Stephanie S. Christensen. In sum, the Court DENIES IN PART the Hill Parties' motion to compel agreements, in that it does not compel production using their proposed method. However, the Court GRANTS the motion IN PART, in that it ORDERS the Studio Parties to use their own search method but with the expanded year range1976 to 1987. Specifically, when searching for the 10 agreements for the purchase of all rights (by United Artists and MGM) in an already existing original unpublished screenplay in each category (released and unreleased), the Studio Parties should search until they have collected 5 agreements for the period January 1, 1976 to December 31, 1977 and 5 agreements for the period January 1, 1978 to December 31, 1987. The Studio Parties are ordered to produce these documents no later than 14 days from the issuance of this order, unless another date is agreed upon in writing by the parties. (tsn)
