MINUTE entry before the Honorable Edmond E. Chang: On review of the bill of costs, R. 226, the Plaintiff's response, R. 228, and the defense reply, R. 229, the bill is granted in full. As a threshold matter, Civil Rule 54(d)(1) establishes a strong presumption that costs will be awarded to the prevailing party. Given the rule, there is no requirement that the judgment specify the awarding of costs. Congregation of the Passion, Holy Cross Province v. Touche, Ross & Co., 854 F.2d 219, 222 (7th Cir. 1988). The Plaintiff contends that the deposition costs and transcripts were not needed as to Rodger Heaton, Christopher Higgerson, Edward Jackson, Edwin Bowen, Toyia Marie Sims, and Alexsei Norton, but offers no analysis for the conclusory assertion. R. 228 at 2, para. 7. The depositions were reasonably necessary: these six witnesses were on the Plaintiff's Rule 26(a)(1) disclosures. R. 229-1. And the Plaintiff even successfully fended off motions to preclude the depositions of three of them. R. 71 at 11-12.
