   ORDER: Rule 1.4 of the Local Civil Rules for the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York provides: "An attorney who has appeared as attorney of record for a party may be relieved or displaced only by order of the court and may not withdraw from a case without leave of the court granted by order. Such an order may be granted only upon a showing by affidavit or otherwise of satisfactory reasons for withdrawal or displacement and the posture of the case, including its position, if any, on the calendar." (emphasis added). "A district court has wide latitude to deny a counsel's motion to withdraw." Whiting v. Lacara, 187 F.3d 317, 321 (2d Cir. 1999). Courts may look to the New York Rules of Professional Conduct for guidance as to "as to what constitutes 'good cause' to grant leave to withdraw as counsel." See Whiting, 187 F.3d at 321 (citation omitted); see also New York Rules of Professional Conduct, Rules 1.16, 1.13, 1.2, 1.3. "However, in the absence of a compelling justification, the Court will not relieve an attorney from his obligations." Foster v. City of New York, No. 96 Civ. 9271, 2000 WL 145927, at * 4 (S.D.N.Y. Feb. 7, 2000). Mr. Isaacson has not filed an affidavit presenting a satisfactory reason for withdrawal--this case has been terminated and is pending appeal--and his request for withdrawal is DENIED WITHOUT PREJUDICE.
