Pharma Industry Dominates 2010 FCA Payouts

Law360, New York (October 25, 2010, 4:20 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice scored more than $3.1 billion in False Claims Act recoveries in the past fiscal year, with pharmaceutical companies accounting for eight of the top 10 payouts, according to a report released Monday by a nonprofit advocacy group.

The DOJ resolved 145 FCA cases in fiscal year 2010, with the 10 largest cases alone accounting for $2.7 billion in proceeds as of Oct. 1, according to data compiled by Taxpayers Against Fraud.
