CORRECTED: Report Details $2.3B In 2014 Health Fraud Recovery

By Jessica Corso (March 11, 2015, 3:57 PM EDT) -- Federal prosecutors netted a record $2.3 billion from fraud investigations into the health care and life science industries last year and are expected to continue scrutinizing the industries to an "unprecedented" degree in 2015, according to report released by law firm Bass Berry & Sims PLC Wednesday.

The Nashville-based healthcare experts say that whistleblower suits are on the rise and that the government recovered $1.9 billion more in 2014 than in 2013 in False Claims Act, Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute violations.
