Medical Records Co. Reaches $4.9M Deal To Resolve OT Suit

Law360 (September 5, 2018, 5:15 PM EDT) -- Workers for medical records company Optimum Healthcare IT LLC have reached a $4.9 million class action settlement with the company over unpaid overtime and have asked a Pennsylvania federal court to approve it, along with $1.6 million in fees for attorneys from Berger Montague, Lichten & Liss-Riordan PC and Blanchard & Walker PLLC.

The unopposed motion filed Tuesday asks the court to finalize the settlement between Optimum and approximately 1,440 workers who trained doctors and nurses in using new electronic records systems, stating that although they said Optimum had misclassified them as “independent contractors” and paid them a flat hourly rate instead...
