Harris, Others Urge 9th Circ. Not To Revive 'Conscience Rule'

Law360 (October 21, 2020, 3:36 PM EDT) -- A coalition of lawmakers and public health experts are backing California's attempt to convince the Ninth Circuit not to restore a rule that would have protected health care workers from refusing to participate in abortions and other procedures at odds with their religious beliefs.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' so-called Protecting Statutory Conscience Rights in Health Care rule, which multiple courts vacated after finding fundamental flaws with the final regulation, must remain extinguished, the groups said in amicus briefs on Tuesday.
