Nursing Home Chain Gulf Coast Health Care Hits Ch. 11

By Jeff Montgomery (October 14, 2021, 10:44 AM EDT) -- Three-state nursing home chain Gulf Coast Health Care LLC and 64 affiliates sought Chapter 11 protection in Delaware on Thursday, citing pandemic-driven operating costs, "crippling" staff woes and plans for a management turnover triggered by a $217 million rent acceleration.

The company, which has 28 skilled nursing facilities in Georgia, Florida and Mississippi, reported that it plans to pursue a restructuring support agreement — reached with its largest landlord and other creditors — intended to lead to a transfer of management and operations to another not-yet identified party.
