Deals Rumor Mill: Hillhouse, Orbitz, Salix Pharmaceuticals

By Benjamin Horney (January 20, 2015, 5:56 PM EST) -- Yale University-backed Hillhouse Capital Management has raised $2 billion for a new fund, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday. According to the report, capital for the new fund came only from existing investors, the identities of which were not disclosed. Thanks to this latest fund, Hillhouse's assets under management have now climbed to roughly $18 billion, the report said. The new fund will be used to invest in a joint venture with the Rochester, Minnesota-based Mayo Clinic, according to the report. The venture will look to plug money into projects that raise medical care standards in China, the report said, and more details are expected on Wednesday....
