Erica G. Burns On Jan. 20, 2016, a Florida telemedicine bill, originating in the House of Representatives, was unanimously approved by the House Select Committee on Affordable Healthcare Access. The bill, HB 7087, was subsequently passed, in a unanimous decision, by the House Health Care Appropriation Subcommittee on Feb. 8, 2016. Among other things, the bill authorizes out-of-state providers using technology to consult with Florida patients by registering with the state of Florida as a telemedicine provider as opposed to being licensed to practice medicine in the state.
