NY State Law Would Force Airbnb To Share Rental Locations

Law360, New York (July 18, 2017, 7:33 PM EDT) -- A New York state Assemblymember announced a bill on Tuesday that would require short-term rentals sites such as Airbnb to share the location details of their rental offerings, a move that supporters said would increase transparency in the industry and help preserve affordable housing. 

The legislation, introduced by Democratic State Assemblymember Linda B. Rosenthal as bill A4153A, would require advertising of short-term rentals to include the exact address of the rentals. Publicizing the addresses would allow guests to know the exact location of their rental, ensuring they are not scammed into rentals that are not actually in the advertised location....
