House Panel Advances Bill To Bar Nationwide Injunctions

Law360 (September 13, 2018, 8:10 PM EDT) -- The House Judiciary Committee greenlighted proposed legislation on Thursday that seeks to ban courts from handing down nationwide injunction orders.

The bill, known as the Injunctive Authority Clarification Act of 2018, was approved by a vote of 14-6, according to Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., who introduced the bill.

"I am pleased that the House Judiciary Committee today approved the Injunctive Authority Clarification Act of 2018 to restore the proper balance of power between the branches of government and I look forward to a vote by the full House of Representatives soon," Goodlatte said in a statement.
