Trump Proposal Threatens Safeguards For Migrant Kids
Law360 (May 20, 2019, 9:29 PM EDT) -- President Donald Trump will likely try to dismantle bedrock protections for migrant children in detention, including those in the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act and a decades-old settlement agreement, to reform the asylum system as he outlined last week, policy analysts said.
In a Thursday address at the White House unveiling a sweeping immigration reform agenda, Trump had called for "removing all incentives for smuggling women and children" and "humanely reunit[ing] unaccompanied children with their families back home — and rapidly."
