DOJ Gives Grant Advantage For Aiding Immig. Enforcement

Law360, New York (September 8, 2017, 7:37 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice notified state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies Thursday that they can earn bonus points on their grant applications for fiscal year 2017 by cooperating with federal efforts against unauthorized immigration.

To receive the extra points, the grant applicants must certify to the DOJ's Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, or COPS, that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has access to their detention facility, if they operate one.
