State Farm Sues Amazon Over Exploding Vape Battery

By Cara Salvatore (August 13, 2018, 4:04 PM EDT) -- Insurer State Farm has sued Amazon and another company allegedly responsible for making a vape battery that caused a $400,000 fire in the house of one of its policyholders, according to a lawsuit removed to California federal court on Friday.

State Farm policyholder William Foley bought a vape battery made by LG Chem Michigan Inc. and distributed by Amazon Technologies Inc., in La Mirada, California, sometime before Sept. 11, 2016, according to the suit filed in state court on July 9 and removed to federal court Aug. 10.
