Judge Pares UnitedHealth Class Claims Over Unpaid Bills

Law360, Los Angeles (January 22, 2013, 10:11 PM EST) -- A Texas federal judge on Friday threw out much of a proposed class action accusing United Health Group Inc. of improperly refusing to pay preauthorized claims for out-of-network doctors but kept alive a breach of contract claim, allowing the case to advance.

U.S. District Judge Keith P. Ellison on Friday trimmed three of the four claims plaintiff Abdel K. Fustok alleged in his second amended complaint filed in September — three claims he had allowed Fustok to amend after booting them from the case last year. ...
