Diocese Aims To Sink Travelers Sex Abuse Suit In 9th Circ.

Law360, New York (August 28, 2013, 4:00 PM EDT) -- A Catholic diocese urged the Ninth Circuit on Wednesday not to revive a federal lawsuit in which Travelers Casualty and Surety Co. fought coverage of lawsuits brought by hundreds of alleged victims of sexual abuse, arguing the insurance issues should be decided in a parallel state court action instead.

The Roman Catholic Church of Helena asked the appeals court to uphold a Montana federal judge's decision to toss a coverage suit brought by Travelers and its affiliates — United States Fidelity and Guaranty Co. and St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Co.
