Deals Rumor Mill: Johnson & Johnson, Onex, McDonald's

By Benjamin Horney (January 12, 2017, 5:55 PM EST) -- Johnson & Johnson has agreed to a tentative price tag for the potential acquisition of Swiss biotech Actelion Ltd., Bloomberg reported on Thursday, although the financial details were not disclosed. According to the report, the two sides are now in talks about the structure of a deal, which could see Actelion's research and development unit spun off into a new company, with its shareholders being allowed to retain some stock. A deal could be officially inked as soon as later this month, the report said. Reports in late December said that French pharmaceutical company Sanofi SA was making progress in efforts of its own to buy Actelion, though Thursday's report appears to show that Johnson & Johnson, which previously offered to buy Actelion in a deal valued around $28 billion, is the front-runner....
