Employers Continue To Wrestle With Wellness Programs

In an attempt to alleviate some of the confusion, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission issued final rules regarding wellness programs last May, but since that time a number of lawsuits have arisen that disagree on the interpretation of these new rules. Most recently, the House Committee on Education and the Workforce has proposed a bill regarding wellness programs. This bill reverses the new EEOC rules in part, and supports them in part. It remains to be seen whether this latest attempt to resolve the competing tensions in wellness programs will finally provide some much-needed clarity....
