Ill. Insurer Can't Escape Hartford's Coverage Suit

Law360, Springfield (October 11, 2017, 6:07 PM EDT) -- Illinois-based Guarantee Trust Life Insurance Co. must face a suit brought by Hartford Underwriters Insurance Co. fueled by an underlying settlement that left GTL on the hook for $2 million, an Illinois federal judge ruled Tuesday.

GTL had filed a motion to dismiss Hartford’s suit in May, claiming Hartford’s case was moot as the Connecticut company had already indemnified GTL.
