WTO Gives Mixed Ruling In S. Korea-Japan Valve Duties Row

Law360 (April 13, 2018, 1:44 PM EDT) -- The World Trade Organization has dismissed many of Japan’s claims in its dispute with South Korea over that country's tariffs on Japanese pneumatic transmission valves used in cars and certain electronics, according to a panel report circulated on Thursday.

The panel overseeing the dispute tossed several of Japan’s claims for its failure to provide sufficient information identifying the legal basis of its allegations and found that South Korea did not violate the WTO’s anti-dumping agreement in many of Japan’s remaining claims.
