French Court Erases Ban On Monsanto GMO Corn

Law360, New York (August 1, 2013, 7:45 PM EDT) -- A French court again overturned a ban on genetically modified corn made by Monsanto Co. on Thursday, saying the French government had not demonstrated that it threatened human health or the environment.

The country's top administrative law court, Le Conseil d'Etat, had previously vacated the French agricultural ministry's ban on the corn, known as MON810, in November 2011.

The court held then that the ministry had not provided proof, in line with European Union regulations, that the crop posed a risk to human health, animal health...
