Dems Unveil Long-Term Trade Relief Extension

Law360, New York (February 26, 2015, 4:44 PM EST) -- Democratic lawmakers on Thursday came forward with a bill that would give a five-year extension and funding boost to the suite of Trade Adjustment Assistance programs aimed at providing relief for workers and firms that are displaced by international trade.

While a late-session funding bill saved TAA from expiration in December, Reps. Sander Levin, D-Mich., and Adam Smith, D-Wash., stressed that the program was in desperate need of a long-term renewal and numerous structural reforms to increase its effectiveness.
