EU Lawmakers Call For Fines On Gazprom In Antitrust Deal

Law360, Fort Wayne (March 20, 2017, 6:07 PM EDT) -- Several European Parliament members have criticized a tentative settlement of allegations that Gazprom PJSC abused its dominance in the continent's central and eastern regions, asking European Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager to levy financial penalties on the Russian state-owned gas giant.

Without fines, the agreement would do nothing to repay businesses and households in the eight European Union nations that were subjected to Gazprom’s illegal conduct, the lawmakers said. The letter was signed by Industry, Research and Energy Committee Chair Jerzy Buzek and six of his colleagues....
