Streaming Music Bill Hits The Right Notes On Capitol Hill

Law360 (May 15, 2018, 5:18 PM EDT) -- Famous musicians, bipartisan lawmakers and rival industry groups all voiced support at a Senate hearing Tuesday for a package of copyright amendments that would make major changes to how streaming music services such as Spotify pay royalties.

The hearing, by Senate Judiciary Committee, is the latest good sign for the Music Modernization Act, an amalgam of previous copyright bills that's designed to fix the complicated American system of digital music licensing. The bill passed the House unanimously last month.
