Bitcoin 'Inventor' Claims Copyright Of Bitcoin White Paper

Law360, London (April 23, 2021, 12:01 AM BST) -- Self-proclaimed Bitcoin inventor Craig Wright is claiming copyright ownership of the cryptocurrency's founding white paper in a U.K. court, saying a Bitcoin-focused website that posted the paper should be required to take it down.

Wright, an Australian computer scientist who claims to have invented Bitcoin, lodged a copyright claim in the U.K. against the operators of Wright initiated proceedings in February and got the court's go-ahead to serve the copyright infringement claim on Wednesday, according to Wright's counsel at Ontier LLP. 

Wright said he doesn't know the identity of the operators beyond the pseudonym "Cøbra."
