PTAB Nixes Raytheon Jet Engine Patent Claims In GE Fight

By Adam Lidgett (September 22, 2021, 5:20 PM EDT) -- In a decision on remand from the Federal Circuit, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board on Tuesday invalidated various claims in a Raytheon jet engine patent as obvious.

A panel of administrative patent judges found that five claims in the patent were not patentable. The decision came after the Federal Circuit ruled in December that patent challenger General Electric did have standing to appeal the PTAB ruling that GE hadn't proven the Raytheon patent was invalid, determining that the board's ruling couldn't stand based on substantial evidence.
