Red Sox, White Sox Face Fight Over 'Soxx' Trademark Bid

By Bill Donahue (May 2, 2012, 7:55 PM EDT) -- A company called INC International on Tuesday fired back against the Boston Red Sox and the Chicago White Sox, which have teamed up to block the company's application for a trademark on the term "Soxx" for use on running shoes.

INC on Tuesday denied the teams' accusations that its proposed mark would tread on the clubs' famous reputations, filing a response to their objection with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. The answer offered little details other than to deny the allegation, and Matthew H. Swyers of The Trademark Company, counsel for INC, declined to comment...
