Google Pledges Not To Sue Over Open-Source Projects

Law360, New York (March 28, 2013, 10:09 PM EDT) -- Google Inc. on Thursday pledged not to deploy its patent weapons against open-source software developers unless it is sued first, saying it hopes the move will serve as a model for the tech industry.

The search giant said it is encouraging other patent holders to adopt its “Open Patent Nonassertion” pledge or a similar initiative.
