Texas Judge Narrows But Affirms MicroData IP Verdict

Law360, New York (August 11, 2014, 7:18 PM EDT) -- A Texas federal judge has chipped away at a jury verdict in an infringement suit brought by Cassidian Communications Inc. against microData GIS Inc. over a phone-routing and networking patent, removing two of three grounds for invalidity but ultimately affirming the noninfringement and invalidity verdict.

U.S. District Judge Rodney Gilstrap on Friday granted parts of Cassidian's motion for judgment as a matter of law but kept in place a jury's finding that microData did not infringe on a patent that the jury also ruled was invalid. Judge Gilstrap also denied Cassidian a new trial.
