Law360, New York (March 29, 2017, 12:21 PM EDT) -- On March 27, 2017, the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments in TC Heartland LLC v. Kraft Foods Group Brands LLC, the widely watched case in which the court will review the Federal Circuit's broad interpretation of patent venue that many argue has resulted in the concentration of patent cases in venues viewed as plaintiff-friendly. In a surprise to those expecting a unanimous reversal, the justices asked tough questions to both sides, some even seeming to lean at least slightly toward affirming the Federal Circuit. Only Chief Justice John Roberts appeared to be leaning significantly in favor of a reversal, while Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito were silent, not giving any hint as to their views....
